Curious, but what are the brands that you don't like outside of Jeep?

I don’t have strong feelings about most brands, mostly apathy . I’ve driven Hondas half my adult life and would love an S2000. I like FJs, -62 and older, and wouldn’t mind a 4Runner from before they got bloated.

I can’t think of anything from the entire history GM that interests me other than a K5 Blazer or a convertible classic Corvette. I’m sure with such a long history there’s at least one other vehicle they’ve made that I’d be interested in. Probably.

I like the looks of the Mustang, coupe or convertible, until the dreadful Fox body years, or a 5th+ generation convertible.

Jimny or Montero would be nice.

Brands I actively dislike would be VW, for monkeygate, and Hummer, because incredibly tacky. Don’t care about pickups but obviously pretty much anything modern with the pedestrian-maiming grilles turns me off.

The fact that it’s silver makes it a lot easier to disregard (I almost included that gripe in my list, I’d swear Toyota is allergic to interesting colors ) but otherwise that’s a very interesting truck.

A rare, manual 4Runner — and you’re complaining about a color you can negotiate down so you could paint/wrap it in a preferred color of your choice?!

Kinja'd!!!

Keep it up and one day, someone will put a hex on you.

I can’t take it to a Jeep Jamboree, which is one of my primary criteria. I had to cancel one I was going to go to  with my dad because my LJ was broken, and I don’t want to miss another such opportunity. We don’t have a lot of years left together.

Who said anything about taking to a Jeep event?! This could be your daily, so you don’t wear out your LJ. Or you not getting worn down from daily driving it.

Remember, buy something decent then flip it later?

Geez!!!

The point of looking specifically for a Jeep as alternative transportation was so I could have two different vehicles that could make that event. I mean, hell, right now I could park the LJ and it wouldn’t be ready for any off-ro ading because of its transmission and throttle problems.

So it will have to be ONLY a Jeep, with a MANUAL (exception for Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, Chief, Cherokee Chief ), no J eeps with 3.7 V6 or 4.7 V8, and the list price can’t exceed $7000, right?

Pretty much, except maybe an auto XJ, or an auto 09-10 Commander, or hell I don’t know. I’ve put it on the back burner for now until I find out the results of some medical tests.

Thanks, fingers crossed.

I’d rather have the Selec-Trac for more control over when 4wd engages, but that’s a pretty decent price  and a nice overall package. Not sure how I didn’t notice that one.

Mate of mine at Uni had one. He was coming back to town with the top down and managed to get caught by a rainstorm. In the first instance, he damn near drowned because driving a Moke in a down pour at 80 km/h will do that then he realised that the floor drains were blocked...so he ended up doing another 20 km with 3" of water sloshing around inside the car.

Thanks for the reminder: time to put my drain plugs back in for the winter.
